TO BE SIGNED BY EPHRATA BOROUGH RESIDENTS ONLY
As a customer of Ephrata Borough Electric, I am concerned about the Borough going forward with a project to install two 2.7mW diesel generators on Church Street next to the OMPH school and close to residential housing in the Borough.
I am concerned about the health impacts on residents, noise pollution and noxious odors when the generators are running.
This matter must be reversed and considered by the entire council after hearing testimony from expert witnesses and addressing questions from Ephrata residents.
1) It makes more sense to add solar storage batteries to the existing solar array than to add diesel generators.
2) This is 10 diesel truck engines (5 for each generator) with the pollution that goes with diesel exhaust, including more than a dozen probable and known carcinogens and other chemicals known to cause asthma.
3) Process was not well publicized and therefore Ephrata residents views were not taken into account.
We are asking Ephrata Borough Council to STOP & STUDY all three options using current pricing so they can make an informed choice. We would prefer a clean option if it is economically feasible.
