It`s important that employees elect their own union steward and remove the existing one Because: 1. 98% of the union employees are not happy with the way the steward is handling their issues. 2.The Union steward was not voted in and members have a right to democratically elect their own steward. 3.The majority of the Union members are from the Housekeeping department and are female yet the steward is a male from the utility department which has less than a quarter of the total number of union members. 4. The relationship and history between the current Union steward and the management ( including the VP) creates a conflict of interest which members feel is part of the reason he can't execute union duties and make decisions in favour on the members. 5. Employees continue to be abused and overworked and the union steward is nt doing anything about it. 6.Ever since the Union came into effect more than 15 employees have been let go without and the reason still remain unclear. 7. Employees are facing unrealistic workloads which is subsequently causing a lot of injuries and when injured , they face expulsion or dismissal.
