Stop the Langley Speedway from Ruining our Park

The Langley Speedway Historical Society is proposing to re-open the Speedway at the bottom of 208th Street, offering 10-14 races per year, plus outdoor concerts and events. This would be devastating to the horse community, and to Campbell Valley Park users. The noise would be deafening, frightening neighbouring horses and wildlife in the Park. The Little River Bowl, where the Speedway exists, amplifies the sound and carries it throughout the Park, and surrounding areas.

The traffic congestion that will result from hundreds (possibly thousands!) of spectators will bring all the roads around the Park to a grinding halt. 208th Street is a dead-end road as it is, with no public transit access, so even if people carpool, there will be hundreds of extra vehicles driving down 208th Street, causing pollution, noise, litter, and congestion.

Any equestrian centres nearby (and especially Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities - PRDA) will be negatively affected by the impact of the Speedway. PRDA would not be able to operate on event days, as traffic and noise would make it imopssible. As a non-profit society that offers therapeutic horseback riding to people with disabilities, a quiet, calm and natural environment is vital in providing a safe therapeutic experience for our clients.

It is imperative to the future of PRDA that this Speedway not be allowed to re-open. Please support us in our efforts to OPPOSE the re-opening of the Langley Speedway. Thank You!
