Don't let Trump's infrastructure plan take us backward

To the Trump Administration, regulation is a four-letter word. To the observant American, this is nothing new but Trump's war on common sense regulations — like the Endangered Species Act — is about to kick into high gear.

Hidden in the president's recently leaked infrastructure plan is a plot to strip the books of vital environmental policies that — for years — have kept our water unpolluted, air clean and endangered species from going the way of the dodo.

Trump is trying to sell his proposal to the American public as the only way the US can bring our nation's crumbling infrastructure into the 21st century. But, ironically, his efforts to strip us of strong environmental protections could take us back 50 years.

If Congress allows this plan to go through, communities will lose some of their of their best tools to fight developments that threaten their well being, corporations will be able to dodge air and water quality protections and hosts of iconic American species could disappear.

For decades right-thinking politicians, conservationists, environmentalists and everyday citizens have fought hard to get these laws on the books. Now, with just one sweeping infrastructure proposal, Trump puts all that work at risk.

We cannot have a better future by moving backward to the days where environmental were nonexistent and companies were able to pollute, poison and endanger America's precious wildlife with no repercussions. No new bridge or newly paved highway is worth the health of millions of Americans. Help stop Trump's plan now. Write your representative and tell them to refuse to support his infrastructure plan.
