Congressional Republicans are still refusing to raise the debt limit, threatening to push America into default, and tank our economy.
The debt limit authorizes borrowing for debt already incurred. Refusing to raise it doesn't mean you're cutting spending, it means you're not paying the bills you already owe. And if we don't raise it, it will send the US into default, dramatically raise the interest rates the government needs to pay on debt, and almost certainly send the economy into a deep recession.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen just warned that the US government could run out of money to pay its obligations as soon as June 1, and the jobs, benefits and financial security of millions of Americans could start disappearing.
But Republican extremists in the House don't care, and they are willing to drive America off a cliff to appease their base. Millions of Americans will suffer in less than 30 days from now unless Republicans start acting like adults and do their job.
We must keep up the pressure and demand Republicans raise the debt ceiling before June 1. Add your name, and show your support!
