The issue at hand is simple daves super market has been OUR grocery store. After decades of helping the Saltzman family grow his empire from a little store on the corner of E.33rd and Payne ave, formerly known as Daves Eagle Supermarket, the now franchise owners of the empire are moving the store to another location. The Payne Ave. community that helped the Daves Chains to grow which is about 60% now mostly elderly, will not be able to walk to the new location said to be on E.55th and Carnegie Ave. What a slap in the face to this vibrant community that has supported Burton and his son for more than 4 decades! Despite the influx of Asian business and Plazas now purchasing the once dilapidated buildings surrounding Daves, the community of Payne, Superior, Chester, and St. Clair, still depend on The Payne Daves Market to buy food for its families. The closest supermarket will now be Save A lot on Superior Ave, or the smaller Daves Branch in the Central Plaza. Sign this petition and let The Saltzman family men know how you feel their loyalty is being repaid. IF this move falls on deaf ears, a Boycott of the new store should ensue to demonstrate to the family the if it had not been for the Payne Ave community, this Franchise would have NEVER taken off as it did.
