Tell the USDA to Make our Health and Safety the Top Priority

The priorities of the USDA should be the safety of our meat and not the economics of the beef industry. We would like to be more informed and confident that monitoing and testing is adequate.

The USDA has not released information as to the specific disease that prompted a recall of nearly 9 million pounds of beef. It makes us suspect that it was BSE (or mad cow) since the USDA has been reluctant to increase testing for for years. The diseased cows should not have gotten through the gates to begin with. Much tighter monitoring, testing, and transparency need to be in place so that we can feel safe that our food is healthy.
