In Taiji, Japan, every year, hundreds of thousands of Dolphins are herded into the cove to be selected. Most are slaughtered, and some are chosen for training so that they can go into places like Sea World, and other places like Marineland and Ocean Park Hong Kong.
In a drive hunt involving about 250 bottlenose dolphins in the third week of January, the Taiji hunters found Angel and took her from her mother for special reasons. She was a rare Albino dolphin. She was captured and put into The Taiji Whale Museum, to become an attraction for tourists and visitors. Every Albino animal has only a few years to live, because of their conditon. She is a member of a transient pod of bottlenose dolphins, the chances of her being adopted if she were released are very slim. Add to this the fact that she is an albino, making her a noticeable target to sharks and other predators, and her chances of survival become slim.
Therefore, we are trying to have them release Angel from the Taiji Whale Museum and put her into a natural seapen or protected cove, so that they can assess the feasibility of releasing her into the wild depending on her health and her compatibility with other wild dolphins.
