Protect vulnerable DACA participants!

As the Chair of a not-for-profit organization that celebrates the diversity of our American culture (Local Colors of Western Virginia), I have many friends who are participating in DACA (Deferred Action for Childhod Arrivals). These are people who are ALL working towards the American dream. They pay taxes and contribute as much or more than many citizens do, and they have come out of the shadows in hopes of being recognized as the deserving people they are. They are not criminals or moochers trying to take advantage of the system, but rather, they are conscientious members of our society who are trying to live honest lives. ALL OF THESE 750,000 young poeple wre brought to the USA as children, and had no choice in the matter. For most of these poeple, the USA is the only country they have ever known. Now, after coming forward (as was encouraged by President Obama), they are apparently being thrown to the wolves without any real protections being offered.

We demand that these contributing members of our culture be given a realistic path towards citizenship, like they were promised. We demand that assurances be made that DACA people will not be threatened with deportation or treated like second-class citizens. We will not allow the Trump administration to injure these people who's only sin was to be living in the USA at a time when many people have forgotten that their families were once immigrants too.
