Save Chimps from Science Experiments

Chimpanzees have been listed as endangered since the 1990s. But because captive chimpanzees aren't included in that designation, researchers have been able to use these intelligent, sensitive animals for science experiments.

A new proposal by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service would put all chimpanzees under the protection of the Endangered Species Act -- including those who are currently passing their sad lives alone in cages.

This act could finally end that horrific practice and free chimpanzees from scientific testing once and for all.

Hunting and habitat loss have reduced the world's population of chimps from over a million to only 300,000 in only a hundred years. It is vital that we save the remaining chimps before it's too late.

The USFS is currently taking public comments on the proposal -- add your comment to support passing the act and saving chimps today.

We the undersigned thank you for your recent proposal to list all chimpanzees as endangered.

We support this proposal for many reasons. Habitat loss and hunting have wreaked terrible losses on the world's chimpanzees, a million of which have disappeared from the wild since the year 1900. Meanwhile, captive chimpanzees are kept isolated and abused in cages. For such a social animal, this is a living death.

Your proposal will mean the end of the horrible practice of experimenting on highly sentient animals. We support listing all chimpanzees as endangered!
