Petition in Support of Building a New Retreat Centre on the Grounds of the Present Belcourt Centre

1. Whereas a generous bequest has been made available to the Diocese of this purpose it is incumbent on the Diocese to use this bequest in the best way possible;

2. Whereas the Diocesan Finance and Property Committee have determined that renovations to the present Belcourt Centre are not feasible, the best use of the bequest is to build a new retreat centre, designed as a retreat centre - the new Belcourt Centre;

3. Whereas the people of Rustico are to be commended for the rebuilding of the Centre in 1932 and the interest taken in it from that time, it is not reasonable to deny the responsibility of the Bishop to use the bequest in the best way possible after consultation with his advisors.
