Right Whales on the Brink of Extinction

North Atlantic Right Whales have been roaming the ocean for 1000's of years. Over 800 years of extensive hunting for their valuable baleen and oil has resulted in a significant decline in their population despite being protected internationally since 1935. This species is now hovering on the brink of extinction with approximately only 400 remaining. They are still facing continous threat with the urbanization of the ocean where they feed, socialize, mate, migrate, and birth their calves. Action needs to be taken immediately to reduce the potential for collisions between vessels and the Right Whale, as well as an emergency response being put into place to free whales entangled in fishing gear. We cannot afford to lose any more species, or we could all face extinction.
