With the list of felonies a person can commit growing by the year, it's little wonder that one out of every three Americans has a criminal record.
Yet, in many states like Florida, this means people have a hard time getting a job due to a check box on application forms that demands to know whether people have previous convictions -- even if they are completely unrelated to the job a person is applying for.
This isn't right, it isn't fair and it needs to change!
We the undersigned ask that Florida enact "Ban the Box" legislation to give people a fair chance at getting to meet employers so they can be judged on their skills and their characters and not one incident or past mistake.
