Workplace Bullying has become ingrained into American work culture. Bullying and mobbing cause severe anxiety, PTSD, a range of physical aliments and devestating social and financial consequences. Sadly, the most talented individuals become the targets of supervisors. The estimated financial impact on businesses is massive, yet workplace culture has made little progress. In healthcare, bullying causes medical errors to an extent that will never be fully documented because many errors are not reported. Despite this knowledge, we still have not acknowledged the need to end the problem, by enacting anti workplace bullying legislation or initiating appropriate anti workplace bullying campaigns. Legislation continues to be blocked by individuals who believe that bullying increases productivity through fear. When the smartest individuals are targeted usually because they are different, our entire country looses as creativity and innovation fall behind those countries who protect their talent with anti bullying laws.
