The nation could have learned a lot from a hearing on COVID, and maybe figured out how to be better prepared for the next pandemic.
But Republican senators instead used it to attack Dr. Anthony Fauci—a man who spent more than 50 years fighting infectious diseases.
Why?
Because they're too chickenshit to point the finger at Donald Trump, the village idiot who was president when COVID exploded onto the scene and who used his remarkable powers of stupidity to f*** things up as much as possible.
So instead they invent ridiculous conspiracy theories and weave together strands of pure bullshit to distract Americans from Trump's failures.
While Fauci urged Americans to follow the best available scientific evidence, Trump promoted hydroxychloroquine, mused about injecting disinfectant, and helped create an environment in which misinformation spread faster than the virus itself.
Now Republicans are still trying to make Fauci the villain.
This latest hearing was especially disgraceful. Republican senators screamed at an 85-year-old scientist, threatened him with prison, and generally behaved like internet trolls who somehow wandered into the United States Senate.
Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno even dropped the F-bomb in a pathetic attempt to look tough.
Enough of this crap. It's time to stop letting morons attack those using science and reality to help keep us safe
Republicans are persecuting scientists while empowering conspiracy theorists.
