On march 9th, 2011 our former governor, Pat Quinn, abolished the death penalty in United states. Explaining how Illinois had a lot of controversial cases where the defendants were later exonerated and that he has quote “concluded that our system of imposing the death penalty is inherently flawed… and that the proper course of action is to abolish it”
But our current governor, Bruce Rauner wants to bring it back for crimes against the police. This petition is to try and tell him that the death penalty is ineffective, inhumane, unfair, expensive and just plain useless. Innocent lives are a lot more important than getting revenge on a criminal. I assure you governor Rauner there is not one good thing that is going to come out of bringing it back. We stepped forward don't take us 2 steps again.
