Safe Passages Between Parks for Queens Families

Eastern Queens has beautiful parks and trails. While they are geographically close to one another, our  parks are physically disconnected.  With relatively modest improvements, (upgrading existing trails, creating about 0.5 mile of new trail, adding signage, and making intersections more inclusives) we could close these gaps and greatly increase the safety of all the people heading to our parks -- particularly our children.

These routes would:

• Create a continuous, safe passage between major parks in Eastern Queens:  Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Kissena Corridor Park, Kissena Park, Peck Park, Cunningham Park, Alley Pond Park and Little Bay Park.
• Celebrate the history of our community through preservation and education.
• Increase the quality-of-life of residents by providing  an environmentally friendly, healthy option to travel to local businesses, parks and cultural attractions that may be hard to reach by public transportation.
