Stop the Cruelty of Calf Roping in the Rodeo

We need to stop this horrific cruel act against calves being terrified and hurt all for the sake of our entertainment! Calf roping is one of the most disturbing parts of a rodeo. Terrified young calves, just three or four months old, are caught by the rider who lassos the calf by the neck, jerks the calf off his feet, slams him to the ground, and ties his legs together. This violence can result in serious injuries to calves, including broken necks, backs, and legs. Calf roping is a major event at the Rodeos but it doesn't have to be. The event is banned in several jurisdictions. The second largest rodeo in Canada, the Cloverdale Rodeo, banned calf-roping in 2007 and is still very successful. There is no reason to continue this cruel practice in any Stampede. Tell rodeo officials to put an end to this barbaric practice.
