Lower the pass mark to 40% after pupils struggle with National 5 Geaography Exam

The National 5 Geography exam has received many complaints from students all over Scotland that the paper featured a question that pupils were never taught. The question mainly comes in Section 3, which is worth 20 marks. The question asked pupils to describe Vegetation in the Tundra region or to describe a Sand Spit. Both questions have never made an appearance before in the National 5 Geography Exam. The exam left pupils baffled and was not in any way similar to the SQA’s published specimen paper. For many pupils, the Geography exam was their first ever national exam and has taken effect on pupils confidence for upcoming exams such as English, Science and other Social Subjects. I strongly believe that the pass mark should definitely be lowered to the maximum of 40% with an A being around 65% for this years National 5 Geography Exam. Disgraceful and shocked by the SQA.
