More Mental Health Trained Police Units In LA County

Police departments should be required to have a Mental
Unit, Police Officers trained specifically to respond to mental health calls. When mental health calls are made suicide dual diagnosis drug psychosis ptsd whatever it may be, Officers that respond should be trained in how to respond to the crisis with trauma informed care. Instead of taking them to our over crowded jail we need to be placing them in Mental Health Care establishments that can help. Guns pointed and fired at people who are mentally ill needs to end now! We need to take action and LA County needs to create more CIT units. Currently Los Angeles has around 160 Officers in their Mental Health Unit. We need more. All officers should be trained regularly on how to respond to these calls period.Please sign the petition.
