At PUPtection we believe that what is new is actually old and therefore what is old in most cases is very new. Before there was chemically engineered prescription drugs there was medicine made from exotic flowers, plants, and weeds or what we would call herbs. Before we put fluoride in water and started the use of pesticides and GMO’s on our produce there were fresh flowing rivers and home-grown fruits and veggies. And last but not least before we domesticated our beloved cats and dogs and trained them to eat preservative filled, animal byproduct, mass produced pellet shaped “kibble” and canned foods with strangely long shelf lives they were wild cats and wolves that got plenty of exercise, drank clean water, ate raw meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, and even ingested weeds (herbs) and dirt (detoxifying clay) instinctively to cleanse their systems. And I can guarantee you that they were never obese, got skin infections, or allergic to everything but air. Not once did they worry about getting their heartworm vaccination, becoming a diabetic, suffering from arthritis, or dying from lymphoma. If it weren’t for fighting predators, protecting territory and the stress of fending for young cubs and pups they would live well into their 20’s and 30’s like nature intended.
As you can see, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist or a person who has gone through 10+ years of higher education to see that we’ve been doing the wrong thing for too long and our pets are suffering for it. We’ve conditioned ourselves to think that because kibble (even so-called “premium” kibble) is fast and cheap it must good when that’s not the case at all. It is for these reasons that many pet owners consider regular & premium kibbles a waste of money. This also includes so-called 'therapeutic diets' available only through veterinarians. The pet food industry and veterinary community have simply developed another artificial food to cover up and 'fix' the problems created by other commercial, artificial pet foods. Now why not treat the problems at their source, you may ask? Could it have anything to do with money, perhaps? we are merely trying to raise awareness, enlighten, and open people’s eyes to the fact that by making simple yet effective changes to their pets’ diet & lifestyle, and using a bit of caution, we could live in a world where pets never got sick and live far beyond the average 10-15 year life expectancy.
