I love my neighbors and my neighborhood, but I've had several issues arise during my short time living in the Morningside area. I've had my vehicle broken in to and heard the same has happened to others. I've heard countless gunshots around my house and neighborhood that are absolutely terrifying but seem ignored by even the Police. I've had garbage thrown on my lawn and our neighborhood treated like both a dump site and a race track. I have talked to the Police, and called 311 on several occasions but the behaviors still persist. Tonight while on my regular walk to pick up trash, I was deeply disturbed to find that not only have people been dumping trash on our streets, there was also a garbage bag that contained a dead dog.
I've personally had enough of all of the above and am writing this petition to garner support for video surveillance of our neighborhood. I would like to ask that the city of Knoxville install security cameras on our street lights. I'm as opposed to "Big Brother" as anyone else, but the behaviors of this area have to stop for the comfort and security of our families and neighbors! If you are in support of this initiative, please sign the petition and share it with others in the area. Once I receive support from neighbors I will take it to the city.
