Over the past few years, there has been a fair bit of discussion about the idea of same-sex pairings on Strictly, and why the show has only just begun showing the professional dancers in same-sex numbers. It's also widely known that there have been opening LGBT+ celebrities on the show, as well as new professional Johannes Radebe - who is open about his own sexuality.
Everyone's Talking About Jamie is a popular musical on the West End at the moment, and is a very 'British' musical in it's storyline, situation and setting. Unlike many musicals featured on the show, whether it be through professional dancers, the results show, or the pairings each year, most are more popular musicals that have a more worldwide appeal. In fact, some of the Strictly cast have attended the musical in the past, as well as the show's head choreographer Jason Gilkison.
While BBC's Strictly is only on for a few months each year, asking the ETAJ cast to perform on the results show for the 2019 series would be a way to bring even more national attention to the musical. Strictly's results shows tend to bring in upwards of 8-9 millions views during the time it is on. Even though the majority of the original cast of the show will have departed the show by the time of the Strictly's 2019 series, the cast of ETAJ preforming will only continue to reaffirm the show's message of acceptance and staying true to yourself as a performer.
