Stop Navy Federal Credit Union's Member Online Access Blocking Policy

Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) has a little-known and extreme policy of blocking member online access to our own accounts if we are even 1 day late in submitting our Visa credit account payment. Instead of granting a grace period, or making a reminder phone call to the member, or merely assigning a late fee, they lock your online access to your accounts, which will not be lifted until you either physically go to a NFCU branch, or make a payment through Western Union, for a fee. This is an alienating policy, overly punishing and penalizing members for making a common human oversight and accomplishing nothing but denying members monitoring and corrective access to their OWN financial accounts! And they don't wait to take this measure after 30 days late, or after 2 weeks late, but the policy is to lock accounts after less than 24 hours late! Tell President Dawson that this is NOT the way to treat loyal career-long and life-long members who are making or have made great sacrifices for their nation: often deployed, away from home and away from continuous web access, or even just away on vacation or emergency leave; life happens. Our credit union should cooperate with all members as our partner in financial responsibility and security, not our punisher who cuts us off, shuts us down and pushes us away. This is OUR credit union as members and WE cannot stand for this radical, punitive policy, which is NOT even common practice among credit issuers or banks. So demand that they stop this NOW!
