Unfortunately, African wildlife continues to face serious threats. We call upon governments, wildlife authorities, conservation organisations, tourism operators and communities to strengthen their commitment to protecting Africa's wildlife.

We urge decision-makers to:

Strengthen anti-poaching initiatives: Increase support for wildlife rangers, improve monitoring and strengthen measures against illegal wildlife trade.

Protect natural habitats: Preserve national parks, wildlife reserves, migration corridors and other important ecosystems from uncontrolled development and habitat destruction.

Support local communities: Invest in community-based conservation programmes that provide sustainable livelihoods and encourage peaceful coexistence between people and wildlife.

Promote responsible tourism: Encourage safari operators and visitors to follow ethical wildlife-viewing practices that minimise disturbance to animals and their natural habitats.

Invest in conservation education: Help young people and local communities understand the importance of biodiversity and their role in protecting it.
