GET RID OF PLASTIC STRAWS TO REDUCE PLASTIC WASTE IN CALIFORNIA

For years now plastic waste has been a big problem to our community, affecting our health, marine species, and our environment. There are about 300 million tonnes of plastic waste each year. Only 9% are recycled, 12% incinerated, and 79% of it has accumulated in landfills, dump, or natural environment. On January 1,2019, California created a policy that restaurants were required to only provide plastic straws upon request. We want to modify the policy to requiring restaurants in California to use reusable straws only. Everyday American use about 500 million straws and using reusable straws will be able to reduce it.
