People who do not agree with statues or statues that go against their beliefs think that the have the rights to have the government take them down or take them down themselves. Most of these statues have been around for hundreds of years and have a lot of meaning to a lot of people. Monuments that have to do with Confederacy has been the main target for being taken down. I have always been raised around confederacy and have listened to other peoples beliefs, although I will always believe in what I have been taught when I was raised. I think that instead of people being able to petition statues and monuments with meaning or monuments that have been around for hundreds of years should NOT be able to be taken into consideration or even be acted upon for many different reasons. I strongly believe that anybody who tries to take down a monument with extreme meaning to a group of people should be taken to jail for longer than 6 months or even just getting off on probation, none of that is right because many people look at these monuments and think, "Wow! My ancestors did something amazing." You never see people go after monuments or statues of our founding fathers to get them taken down. Every monument that has ever gotten taken down has been of confederacy past all because the people who got the taken down did not believe for what the monument stood for or because the monument went against their beliefs. If I can get enough signitures then I will try my hardest to get all the monuments that have been taken down to get put back up in their RIGHTFUL place.
