Demand Justice for Washington Tunnel Smoke Inhalation Victims

  • da: Lynn Hamilton

Being stuck on a public train isn't just a nuisance. For over eighty folks who were held captive on a disabled train in the Washington tunnel, it's an ongoing health issue. Those people inhaled enough smoke to cause lasting damage, doctor's visits, and hospitalizations.

Meanwhile, the transit authority is refusing to release information concerning the chemical composition of the smoke they inhaled. And that information could be critical to their treatment.

Please join me in asking Paul J. Wiedefeld, WMATA General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, to disclose the chemistry of the inhaled smoke so that victims can get effective treatment and put this ghastly experience behind them.

Dear Mr. Wiedefeld:

We the undersigned understand that trains stall. But the people who got stuck on that train in the Washington tunnel and inhaled smoke may have purchased a lifetime of regret and hospital bills with their one-way tickets. It appears that the smoke they inhaled is a lasting health issue. The very least you can do is release information concerning the exact chemical make up of the smoke they inhaled. This information may help them receive targeted treatment that will mitigate their health issues. Please release that information to the public immediately.
