Bring back the laser light show from 88-92

Crowds packed the amphitheater on the west side of the Scioto River at sunset on July 24, 1988, to watch lasers dance across the marble face of the State Office Building at 65 S. Front St.

The show, which had kicked off the night before as the finale of that year's Riverfest, attracted an estimated 4,000 people.

A laser installation atop the old Central High School building -- what is now COSI Columbus -- fired up nightly through Aug. 27 and again on the Labor Day weekend that year.

The free 45-minute "Columbus, Discover the Light" show featured pop, patriotic and country music to lasers drawing designs on the building, which is now home to the Ohio Supreme Court, across the river.

"On the side of the building appear animated characters and geometric designs that are six floors tall," The Dispatch reported. "Singer James Brown performs his spirited Living in America hit tune while accompanied by the music. There's a trip inside a drip of water and a popular segment on Ohio heroes ranging from Thomas Edison to Woody Hayes." It ended in 1992! I would love to have this nostalgic moments to share with my children bring back the good things that brought people together in peace and Harmony please!!
