China's CO2 Emissions Have Been Flat or Falling for Months. What Are Other Nations' Excuses?

Scientists have been sounding the alarm bell about climate change for nearly four decades. Yet the same excuse is made by political leaders and corporate executives year after year: that we have to sacrifice climate stability and our future livelihoods to keep up with economic growth.

But evidence is not on their side.

China has shown the world that nations can decarbonize without sacrificing their entire economy. Now, will the other top polluters finally get the message?

Sign now to tell the world's biggest polluters to follow suit and lower their CO2 emissions through wind and solar deployment!

For the past 18 months, China's CO2 emissions have been falling or flat. This is in part due to the nation's remarkable increase in renewable energy. Solar power generation in the country grew 46% in the third quarter of this year alone, and wind grew 11% in the same time frame. Even as demand for electricity increased throughout China -- home to over 15% of the world's population -- the country's energy sector emissions were flat or declined.

It's time for the United States, Japan, India, and Russia to pay attention to China's progress, stop making excuses, and fully invest in renewable energy to decarbonize. Not only can this be done without massive economic impacts, it is literally a moral imperative, as we rapidly approach a degree of warming that would leave entire ecosystems and species at perpetual risk.
