We Need Art in Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park Public Schools eliminated art from all their elementary schools and middle school. As a community we need to let the Board of Ed. know the impact the art program has on our kids. They plan in replacing art with S.T.E.M which may be a good program but it does NOT include art and with all the other building renovations going on in the distric and at the board office, it seems like there should be a way to keep both programs.

Let me tell you about me son. He is quiet and reserved. He lacks confidence in himself. I have to tell him daily how important he is. He struggles in all of his classes. The reason he does though is because of his insecurities. He doesn't think hes good enough so he gives up before he tries. He has a passion for art. He has a talent for art. The last year in school he has shown quite a bit of improvement not only in his artistic abilities, but in his other classes ( from help in other subjects from his art teachers... Who took the extra time to work with him, as well as the confidence he has gained) and even his social skills. He is finally finding some confidence.. His niche in life. My son still struggles but he has shown so much improvement. The loss of art in the schools will be devastating.

Please, take the time to sign this petition. Let us get word to the Board of Ed how we feel about the loss of art.
