It seems that the US war in Afghanistan has left more than one nasty legacy. A 2010 report found that Afghanistan's growing sexual exploitation of underage boys got its start amongst Afghanistan's security forces--the same men who got their training and weapons from the United States.
Afghanistan's religion and laws forbid men from having sex with boys, but this morally reprehensible practice is still flourishing. Many adolescent and even pre-pubescent boys are first trained to sing and dance erotically before being sold into sex slavery. And Afghanistan law enforcement has mostly turned a blind eye, according to a recent article in the Washington Post.
It's time for the US to send a clear message that sex slavery is wrong. Tell Hillary Clinton to take a stand against the practice of sexual enslavement known as bacha bazi.
