PETITION TO FIX THE CENTRAL AIR SYSTEM IN THE CRANE COMPLEX

We, the student body of the Crane School of Music, are concerned for our own physical, mental, and emotional health as well as the damaging of our instrument(s) due to the heat and lack of central air. The following concerns have been brought to the attention of the Crane Student Association executive board as a result of the sensitive temperatures within the Crane Complex:
I. Students are unable to focus during classes due to heat-induced fatigue.
II. The high temperatures in confined practice rooms make it difficult for students to practice.
III. Students are unable to properly tune their instruments due to the affect heat has on sound.
IV. The heat can cause metal instruments to bend, change form, and sound poorly.
V. Dehydration caused by the heat is problematic for vocalists and their vocal health.
VI. It is unsafe for all students to be confined in a space where the heat is so severe for a long period of time.
