Louisiana: Don't Let the Legislature Wash Us Away - Protect Coastal Restoration Funds

Louisiana's coastal wetlands are in a crisis state, disappearing at the rate of an acre an hour. Without our wetlands our communities are more at risk to storms and sea level rise, our fisheries will collapse, and our ports will not be able to dependably handle the nation's shipping needs.

Thankfully, the public and state leaders have worked hard to develop a plan to create a more sustainable coast - and have directed funding streams to begin the work.

Unfortunately, the funding isn't enough to meet the needs laid out in the Master Plan. Even worse, more than a dozen bills have been filed in Baton Rouge which seek to remove constitutional protections for funding streams that are currently directed to coastal restoration.

Take action today and demand that Louisiana's lawmakers abandon any efforts to allow coastal restoration dollars to be used to plug budget shortfalls. Without a sustainable coast, south Louisiana will simply wash away.

Our coastal wetlands are in a crisis state. Despite decades of study, planning and restoration, we're still watching an acre of wetlands every hour turn into open water.

Without fully funding our coastal Master Plan our communities, our fisheries, our ports and economy are completely at risk.

Do not support ANY efforts to allow restoration funds to be used for any purpose other than saving our coast.
