I began bringing Margo to the football field, but once sports practices rolled in, we would have to stop. Then, I brought Margo to the community garden. She did not dig up anything up until Dora was introduced. Being the little puppy that she is, I noticed her trying to dig things up. I knew I couldn’t bring them there anymore because I did not want anything damaged. Our current place of play is Gullard Park’s tennis court. It is great for keeping my dogs enclosed, while being roomy enough to play fetch in. My only issue is the hard cement that they run on. Dogs are tough but not indestructible: Margo and Dora have suffered some damage in their foot pads from the rocks and other materials on the cement.
To sum it all up, I would love Slayton to have a safe and fun -yet appropriate- place for my dogs (AND yours!) to play! I think a dog park would be a wonderful addition to the town. Not only will it be a place for dogs to play, it can be a place for people to meet and hangout too!
