Back in the late 1990's General Motors eagerly accepted a 10.5 billion dollar government bailout, to help ensure the continuation of GM operations in Canada, and to support the company during a very rough economic patch. Now General Motors wants to close its Oshawa ON plant and force 2000 long-time, loyal employees out of work. Generations of these families have worked for GM. These people have families, mortgages and naturally, normal living expenses. Gm has decided to move Oshawa's operations to Mexico, where they will concentrate on trucks and SUVs, instead of the Impalas and other sedans. Union leaders have tried to negotiate an agreement with GM to keep the plant here open, to no avail. I feel, as do many others, that if GM is bailing on Canada and Ontario, they should be made to repay, with interest, the government bailout package they so greedily accepted to save their skins and executive salaries in the past. If they are so willing to abandon us, to save money, make them pay it back and Boycott all GM products!!. Let's do to them what they are doing to all of us.
