SAVE DR HENRY GILBERT AT SUTHERLAND HOSPITAL
This petition is to appeal to the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District - NSW Government and The Hon. Jillian Gell SKINNER, MP, Minister for Health to reinstate the clinic of Dr Henry J Gilbert, Paediatrician and BULK BILLING of Paediatric Consulting. Dr Gilbert has been a Paediatrician in the Sutherland Shire for many years and one of the rare, possibly the only in his field that Bulk Bills his services to patients. Due to what can only be described as a cost cutting measure, Dr Gilbert's clinic hours have been drastically cut and look to be completely stopped in the future.
Previously, Dr Gilbert was able to see 40 patients a week and the hospital has reduced the amount of patients he sees in his clinic there to 2 patients per day 2 days per week which has pushed the waiting list out by many months and is affecting patients under his treatment and guidance.
This will greatly disadvantage so many families in the area that have relied on Dr Gilbert over the years for the care of their children. I have a son with special needs and to have this vital option of Bulk Billing and to lose Dr Gilbert is unimaginable not just for my family but for so many others. Dr Gilbert is a very caring, knowledgeable and thorough expert in his field. Please do not take away the services of Dr Gilbert from The Sutherland Hospital. There should be more services of paediatricians like him and bulk billed. When you need to frequently see a paediatrician it amounts to a huge expense and I'm perplexed as to why there are not more bulk billing paeds as it's an essential resource for all families. You bulk bill cancer patients and oncology is bulk billed, obstetrics and the list goes on. Please do not stop Dr Gilbert's clinic and reinstate the original clinic hours. Paediatricians play a crucial role and so many families need to use them and with the costs associated with seeing one privately, it's quite concerning that a service that helps so many families when already so rare could be taken away. Lastly, most patients and guardians that have been notified by Dr Gilbert himself are aware that this is not his decision and he seems to echo these sentiments and understands how many families will be disadvantaged by this decision. Please sign this petition to keep Dr Gilbert and his Paediatric Consulting clinic at The Sutherland Hospital.
