Do I deserve Death for a nonviolent crime ?

I committed a robbery which was a drug deal. During the robbery I was shot, later I was sentenced and given Life without the possibility of parole. How could a drug related robbery cause me to get such a harsh sentence. I have done 11 years and feel that now is the time to have my case reconsidered.
