In the preparation for the World Cup, significant funds have been used to build stadiums, resulting in the destruction of schools and homes. Meanwhile, essential needs such as clean water, adequate housing, and healthcare are lacking. Youth unemployment stands at 34%, and peaceful protests for basic rights have been met with violence, and multiple people so far have been shot with live bullets and lost their lives.
Moreover, as part of the preparations, Morocco has allocated a budget to remove stray dogs from the streets through inhumane methods, including shooting them with live bullets. This act of cruelty against animals further underscores the ethical concerns of hosting the World Cup in Morocco.
It is a grave injustice to host a global event in a country where fundamental human and animal rights are compromised. We call on FIFA to stand for justice and humanity by choosing a host nation that truly prioritizes the well-being of its people and animals.
