Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP), said that women who take time off to have children are "worth less" to the finance industry and that there's no longer any discrimination in the finance industry.
Mr. Farage should be asked to retract his statements and apologize to women for the insult. Women shouldn't have to sacrifice parenthood in order to be considered equal to their male counterparts.
Rosalind Bragg, director of the charity Maternity Action, told The Guardian she was "very disappointed at the criticism of working mothers".
"This will make life more difficult for the hundreds of thousands of women who are doing an effective job of balancing work and family responsibilities. We need practical support for new mothers at work, not more criticism."
Kirsty Ayre, a partner at law firm Pinsent Masons, told The Guardian the notion that women are "somehow intrinsically worth less to financial institutions as a result of having families is laughable".
Farage has stuck to his guns on the comments in recent days. Tell him his public statement is unacceptable and working women deserve his apology.
