Lift the Veil on Poisonous Plastics

From health concerns to environmental concerns, more and more information is surfacing regarding the hazards of plastic. Consumers have a right to know how estrogenic chemicals present in the plastics they handle every day can impact the wellbeing of themselves and their children. Moreover, consumers remain uneducated on the social and environmental costs of maintaining the plastics industry, including the dangerous environmental impacts of recycling, the reprecussions of which will impact our earth and communities for generations. As our rivers and oceans become poisoned, our bodies become increasingly vulnerable to disease, and wildlife continue to die from consumed plastics, the time to act is now. Sign to encourage congress to pass legislation to lift the veil on the dangers of plastics. With federal and state action, consumers can be informed and, ultimately, the plastics industry can answer for itself and move forward in the interest of finding a solution to the problems it has created.

United States Congressional Leaders:

We demand congressional intervention to end the Plastics Industry's campaign to obfuscate scientific evidence that plastics chemicals are harmful to the health and environment of the American People and the world community.

The list of dangers posed by plastics is seemingly endless. It enters our homes (and therefore our trash and recycle bins) under the guise of being "disposable" when it cannot be composted or broken down in ways that do not produce their own harmful environmental impacts. It leaches estrogenic chemicals into our water, our food, and subsequently, our bodies, leaving us vulnerable to diseases without cure. Moreover, consumers are unaware of these dangers, leading to choices that exacerbate a rapidly advancing polution problem.

It is time for Congress to act in the interest of the global community by directing funds and legislation towards holding the plastics industry accountable for its harmful impacts and informing consumers how to make choices to benefit the health and environment of ourselves and those we hold dear.
