Stop the destruction of local wildlife in durham

Hargreaves mining are proposing to start open cast mining next year near high moorsley/pittington/ west rainton near durham. They plan to mine 500.000 tonnes of coal and 350.000 tonnes of fire clay. They reckon it will take approx 8 years to get the trees, shrubs, wetland areas back to where they are now, what will the birds etc do for 8 years!. They plan to fill the hole they are creating with what they take out which defies the laws of physics, we fear it will become a landfill!
