We're in the middle of a regional war that could easily go global, and we need the best and most experienced people in critical defense and homeland security positions.
Markwayne Mullin is not one of those people, and the Senate should reject him for Secretary of Homeland Security:
"He has never held a prominent party leadership role. He has not served on any of the congressional committees that directly oversee the Homeland Security Department or immigration enforcement. He has no law enforcement experience, and before running for Congress, he had never worked in government." (NYT)
It's not a slam at him to point out that he simply does not have critical experience necessary for the job. There are many, many people across the political spectrum who do have that experience, and can hit the ground running.
Plus, Mullin has cheered on 2020 election deniers, which is just plain crazy, not to mention dangerous. And he's said and done some even crazier and more odious things.
There are plenty of people out there who would be solid picks. Mullin is not one of them. Tell the Senate: "Reject Mullin."
