Ban Police Use Of Tear Gas!

There is no reason for a civilized nation to use chemical weapons against its own people.

Add your name if you want to ban the police from using tear gas all across the United States, once and for all.

Tear gas has been used by police against lawful demonstrators in the wake of the civil rights protests that emerged following the murder of George Floyd by a police officer.

Countless people have been injured, and some may even been killed.

The death of Sarah Grossman, a student from Ohio, has been linked to tear gas, and is currently being investigated, according to The Hill.

And it's easy to understand why...

"Tear gas can cause blindness, death with long-lasting exposure, especially in closed settings," according to the CDC, as reported by WCNC.

Imagine being in a crowd of hundreds of people, surrounded on all sides.

Before you know what's happening, the police are shooting tear gas grenades into the crowd, and one of them lands near you.

There are too many people in the way. You can't escape.

The agony in your eyes, nose and throat caused by the gas is horrific. You cry out in pain, but no one can hear you over the din of the crowd.

The gas fills your lungs.

You can't breathe.

Soon, you can't move.

At long last, you drown in the fluids produced by your own lungs to ward of damage from the gas.

Does any human being deserve a fate like that? Especially people who just want their voice to be heard on the topic of racial justice in America.

"Tear gas is a chemical weapon banned in war.

"It is a deep shame that US leaders chose to tear gas our own people last week. It should never, ever happen again.

"This week I'm joining Representative Mark Takano and Representative Chuy Garcia to introduce a National Ban on Tear Gas," said Representative Alexandria Occasio-Cortez.

The way forward is clear. It's time to ban the police use of tear gas in the USA.

Don't you want to be safe from the people who are supposed to serve and protect you?

Then add your name to demand that every single member of Congress join a bipartisan effort to ban police use of tear gas once and for all.
