I hate the Ethnicity question on Job Applications

I'm feeling really uncomfortable answering questions of ethnicity on job applications. It's easily discrimination, also when I have decline to answer the question on some of my application! I have been told in some instances my application in the red. Meaning there's a problem on my application! Due to lack of answering the ethnicity question. And, I was forced to identify my ethnicity just to get the job.
