Federal officials at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management have been soliciting public comments regarding the possibility of offshore wind turbines along the Atlantic coast. In a positive turn of events, North Carolina's new Governor, Pat McCrory, sent a strong letter of support for wind power farms off of North Carolina's coast.
Governor McCrory's letter to federal officials was covered by the News & Observer:
"This is an important step to develop North Carolina's world-class wind energy resources," McCrory wrote to the feds. "Development of commercial wind farms off North Carolina's coast could stimulate factory development in the state to provide the necessary equipment and bring jobs in that sector."
