LGBT and reproductive rights are causes under siege from the same right-wing politicians who led the anti-LGBT backlash this past year in Tallahassee while also pushing dangerous anti-abortion legislation.
But Florida is at a crossroads.
We know LGBT rights are built on the legal victories secured by women fighting for the right to control their own bodies, for access to birth control, abortion and reproductive health -- and undermining those basic protections threatens all of us.
We must leverage recent positive court rulings on reproductive rights and prepare for attacks by right-wing politicians during the 2017 Legislative Session.
If we fail to act, right-wing extremists will undo the progress we've made for both LGBT and reproductive rights by insisting their personal bias or religious affiliation justify them in denying rights of others. We must stand shoulder to shoulder and fight these attacks together.
