Tell Congress to Restore the Voting Rights Act!

After the Supreme Court gutted the heart of the Voting Rights Act in the Shelby County ruling, voters in cities and states that were once protected by federal oversight began facing laws that made it harder to vote — laws that disproportionately affected people of color.

There is a bill before Congress now, the Voting Rights Advancement Act, that would restore protections against this kind of discrimination and ensure that every American is able to exercise their fundamental right to participate in our elections.

Because every American has a fundamental right to participate in our democracy, we urge Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act to protect voters against discrimination and harassment in the voting process — efforts to disenfranchise voters are emerging at an alarming rate since the Shelby County v. Holder ruling. Now, more than ever, it is absolutely necessary to combat voter suppression.
