For 45 years, Jersey City has waited for the Liberty State Park (LSP) that was promised, a space to safely play and appreciate nature and culture, but the original plan and voices of the local community continue to be ignored.
Today, 40% of LSP remains polluted. Although the NJ DEP committed to restoring this land, a tiny but vocal number of "preservationists" called the Friends of Liberty State Park, are fighting for a preserve through deceptively termed legislation -The Liberty State Park Protection Act (A-2189/S-1449).
Passing the DECEPTION Act will forever block the toxic cleanup and improvements in LSP promised to our community.We urge you to join community leaders and families working toward a LSP that:
- GIVES COMMUNITY MEMBERS A VOICE IN THE FUTURE OF LSP
- PROVIDES RECREATION AND SPORTS FACILITIES
- CREATES CULTURAL AND BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE COMMUNITY
- PROVIDES TRANSPORTATION TO IMPROVE ACCESS TO LSP
