Concerned Canadian citizens have made their voices heard and fought for the regulation of coal-fired plants. But, Maxim Power Corporation's fast-tracked plan for building an entirely new plant threatens to shatter all their hard work!
A recent review of all coal-fired plants has led to new regulations, but they won't be effective until 2015. Maxim claims that they will use a "cutting-edge technology" that will make the plant more fuel efficient, but studies have shown that the new technology will fail to even meet modest environmental health and safety standards mandated by the new regulations.
A new coal-fired plant will destroy everything that citizens of Canada have worked so hard to prevent. The pollution alone will threaten the health of Canadians everywhere. Why take one step forward and then proceed to take two steps back? Urge Environment Minister Peter Kent to stop Maxim Power Corporation from building a new coal-fired plant!
Dear Environment Minister Peter Kent,
Concerned citizens representing 5,000 environmental groups and eco-conscious Canada residents fought for a review of all coal-fired plant regulations and won. Therefore, it makes no sense for Maxim Power Corporation to be allowed to build an new coal-fire plant in light of the new regulations that will take effect in 2015.
A new coal-fire plant would undermine everything that citizens have worked for. In addition, it would further pollute the environment. Despite Maxim's promises to use a new technology that would make the plant more fuel efficient, studies have shown that the new technology will fail to even meet the modest environmental and health standards stated in the new regulations.

Building a new coal-fire plant just doesn't make any sense and will take Canada a step back. I urge you to stop Maxim Power from building this plant and harming the environment!
